4. Ugly but trendy
Saturday, February 4, 21:00

Rio de Janeiros' funk music scene consists of many female MCs and girl groups, because their participation guarantees a success for the dance-hall business. 'I'm Ugly but I'm Trendy' by Denise Garcia introduces to Rio's funk universe - but from a female perspective: it shows the hard rapping women also off-stage in 'real' life, as mother, wife or student.

Berlin's migrant kids and their rage against a society considered as hostile shows 'Wedding 65' by Rozbeh Asmani. His protagonists reflect on their daily life between juvenile delinquency, unemployment and social engagement. Hip Hop and Break Dance suit their desire to express their own identity between parental origin and German reality.

6. The making of
Sunday, February 5, 12:00

Seeing is believing. Out of all possible methods to examine creation the camera is regarded as the most truthful one. The documentary on approach and progress of neuroscience is also a film about vision and filmmaking. 'The making of' is based on the analogy of visual perception and filmmaking. The central question is: How creative is science and how objective is film?

[03] instant constructions
The works of the 'instant constructions' vary strongly in their appearance. The connecting element is the construction of a concentrated momentariness, from the closed structures of hectic found images to concentrated conspiracy theory and practice. Together they operate in the field of tension between the picture and what is being depicted; between appearance and reality.

[06] Collateral surface
Here, 'collateral surfaces' are sideways-moving surfaces. Their narrative circle does not get broken up, but remains intact to make visible the underlying framework and the 'parallel intersections' even more clearly.

[08] Close distances
Distance and closeness; the distanced perspective upon the however immediate and its alleged contraries are here in the foreground. At the same time, this perspective becomes interwoven with the unaccountable serenity towards the inescapable - the bomb, which in a moment of fatalistic clarity, reconstructs the imbalance of power.
a.m./p.m., Herman Asselberghs (be), 45:00 | Enclosures, Nesrine Khodr (lb), 22:00

Tuesday, February 7, 16:00
[09] Grinding borders
The use of force in various ways is the focus of the artistic and documentary works in this programme. 'grinding borders' ranges from the abstraction of direct photographic documents to unfiltered aggression and the situative presence of still-smouldering relics of hardly settled conflicts. But at the same time almost poetic-seeming brief moments of repose emerge, in a most likely ,only temporary, lull.
A few crumbs for the birds, Nassim Amaouche (fr), 28:00 | Begin, Began, Begun, Sarah Vanagt (be), 38:00 | Centroamerica Now, Regina Aguilar (hn), 6:11 | Destrukt, Aline Helmke (de), 2:15
