The call for entries for transmediale award 2008 and club transmediale 2008 is finished. An international jury will award prizes totalling 10 000 EUR. The winner of the transmediale award will be announced during the festival, the ceremony will take place on 2 february 2008.
TRANSMEDIALE
As a festival for art and digital culture, transmediale presents advanced artistic positions reflecting on the socio-cultural impact of new technologies. It seeks out artistic practices that not only respond to scientific or technical developments, but that try to shape the way in which we think about and experience these technologies. transmediale understands media technologies as cultural techniques which need to be embraced in order to comprehend, critique, and shape our contemporary society.
CLUB TRANSMEDIALE
club transmediale (CTM) - festival for adventurous music and related visual arts - takes place in conjunction with the transmediale. CTM is an independent platform for new forms of electronic and experimental music and for the various artistic activity drawing infl uences from and refering to sound- and club culture. It presents outstanding productions in digital, electronic and experimental music, audio-visual performance and installation.

THE AWARD
The transmediale Award is a major international award for art reflecting on the aesthetical and cultural impact of new technologies. Previous award winners have included renowned artists like Shilpa Gupta (in), Zhou Hongxiang (cn), Istvan Kantor (ca), Thomas Köner (de), Netochka Nezvanova (us), schoenerwissen (de), Adrian Ward (uk), Herwig Weiser (at), 242.pilots (no/pl/us), Agnes Meyer-Brandis (de) and others.
INSURANCE
There will be no insurance cover for the material received. Should a work be damaged through the fault of the transmediale only the material value will be reimbursed.
LANGUAGE
Works submitted must be in German or English or have subtitles in either of these languages. Works in other languages must be accompanied by a text list in German or English.
CUSTOMS DECLARATIONS
The transmediale will only accept packages from abroad whose customs declaration forms have been completed correctly. Packages dispatched from outside the European Union must bear the following information: indication of the content plus the note “Not for trade temporary loan for festival”.
The conditions of entry are equally valid for transmediale and club transmediale. Entries for club transmediale at the same time can participate in the transmediale award competition. Please mark the appropriate section in the entry form.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Accepted media for preview: VHS-tapes, DVDs, CDROMs, websites. No demo versions - only completed works!
The evaluation by the jury requires good documentation of submitted works. Where appropriate, an explanation should be given as to which aspects of the works the jury should consider in particular.
Mailing costs will be borne by the entrant. Submissions will be returned on request only and are subject to the following conditions: - submissions from Germany must have a stamped and self-addressed envelope enclosed. - submissions from abroad must have a EUR 10 bill (cash only) enclosed.
