Ximena Cuevas [mx]

Ximena Cuevas (Mexico, 1963) lives and works at an unspoiled Pacific Ocean beach. She worked in the film industry and in cabaret before making video. “I call my work ‘documentary’ because I attempt a kind of laboratory of life; my camera responds automatically to daily life.” Her video work examines the boarders between reality and fiction, the layers of lies and the struggles of the individual with the power systems. Her videos are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Pompidou Center in Paris.
